Earlier, the Collectorate of Customs Preventive had thwarted a bid to smuggle the said gold at the Allama Iqbal International Airport. The customs authorities searched a passenger who was coming from Manchester to Lahore.

The customs authorities searched the passenger, identified as Imran, and recovered two kilograms of gold from him. The search operation was carried out under the supervision of Deputy Collector Customs Preventive.

It is worth mentioning here that the Customs enhanced its monitoring to frustrate any bid of smuggling.

Sources claimed that, due to strict measures adopted by the Customs Preventive, there is a marginal decrease in the trafficking of smuggling.
