Customs Court approves after arrest bail of accused in goods smuggling case

KARACHI: The Customs Court granted after arrest bail to suspects namely Muhammad Khalid Bhimla, Muhammad Ali and Shahzad, booked in a case of attempting to smuggle HP Laptop etc.

On 15 June 2020, counsel for the above mentioned suspects moved after arrest bail applications and argued that his clients are innocent and have been falsely implicated in this case, they are ready to face trial and submit surety against after arrest bail, therefore, court may grant their bail till final judgment in this case.

After the hearing, court granted them bail against the surety of Rs100,000 and directed them to appear before the court on next date of hearing without fail or otherwise.

According to investigation officer informed that on an actionable information, above mentioned suspects were intercepted at Jinnah International Airport Karachi.

He further submitted that during the search, customs officials found 22 Tablet Docomo, 14 HP Laptops, 1 I-Pad Pro 256 GB, 09 I-Paid 7th Generation 32 GB, 03 I-Pad 64 GB, 07 Air Pods Pro, 12 Samsung Tablets, 02 I-Pad Air, 10 Mobile Phones Samsung S20, 11 I-Phone XI, 01 I-Phone 11 Pro Max, 02 I-Phone XR, 06 Mobile Charger, 06 kg Monte Christo Cheese, 03 kg Cracker Barrel Cheese, 18 packets Pringles Chips, 18 Frozen II Chocolates, 20 Kinder Joy, 03 packet Regency Agar Strips, 15 packets Sunbulan Puff Pastry, 10 Samsung Empty Boxes, 14 I-Phone empty Boxes and other goods.

He said that after the search, accused were asked to produce lawful document, however, they did not produce any lawful documents, therefore, case was registered against them and goods were seized by the customs officials.
