Customs Court approves bail of suspect involved in mis-declaration

KARACHI: Custom Court Judge Faiz Rasool Rashdi has granted pre-arrest bail to a suspect, Arif Humayun, son of Muhammad Yameen, who was allegedly involved in four cases of mis-declaration.

The special judge also issued notices to the special prosecutor customs and called police papers. The court directed the applicant to attend this court on the next date of hearing for confirmation of his pre arrest bail or otherwise.

During the hearing, court was informed that investigation officer submitted final challan wherein Arif Humayun shown as absconder but today he appeared before this court in other cases. Applicant surrendered himself before the court and moved bail before arrest application through his council.

After the hearing of argument from applicant / accused side,  the court granted pre arrest bail to applicant against the surety bonds of Rs150,000 in each case and also directed the applicant / accused to join investigation if and when required by the investigation officer of the cases.

FIR Nos 17, 18, 19 and 20 of 2016 registered by Customs authorities under section 156 (1) (14)  (14 -A) of the Customs Act. 1969.
