Customs Court approves bail of suspect in BOPP film smuggling case

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has granted bail to a suspect allegedly involved in smuggling of BOPP film.

An accused Mubarak Sheikh moved his plea for post arrest bail which has been approved by the court of Chaudary Ameer Muhammad Khan.

The suspect was arrested by the customs authorities in Faisalabad for his alleged involvement in smuggling of BOPP film. The customs officials had raided his warehouse and recovered two trucks loaded with smuggled items worth Rs 4.5 million.

The Customs authorities asked Mubarak Sheikh to show documents regarding the legal import of the BOPP film but he failed to produce the same.

The Customs authorities registered a case against him under section 2 (2), 16, 18, 132 A, 156 89 and 178 of the Customs Act, 1969.

Now, the court has asked for interrogation challan in next hearing to reach verdict in the case.
