Customs court approves charge sheet against M/s Chaudhry Brothers Cargo Services

KARACHI: The Customs Court approved charge sheet against financiers, perpetrators, abettors and others persons, who were booked in a case of attempting to smuggle contraband goods under the garb of MAXs Super Emulsion Paint.

On 20 July 2020, investigation officer stated that an information was received to the effect that assorted brand foreign origin contraband betel nuts has been brought from Lahore in the garb of MAXs Super Emulsion Paint and dumped in godown of M/s Chaudhry Brothers Cargo Services (contactor Super Parcel Express Pakistan Railway) City Station (Godhi) Karachi for onward shifting within the city area.

He said that on said information, a team of customs department raided at godown of M/s Chaudhry Brothers Cargo Services (contactor Super Parcel Express Pakistan Railway) City Station (Godhi) Karachi and recovered 153 plastic buckets bearing Marks MAXs Super Emulsion Paint each weighing 11 kg (gross) containing foreign origin betel nuts total weighing 1683 kg valuing of Rs1,683,000 and after the formalities said goods were seized and first information report (FIR) was lodged.

After the hearing, court directed investigation officer to complete investigation and submit progress report on next date of hearing.

According to the prosecution, case was registered for violation of section 2(s) of the customs act, 1969 punishable under clauses (89) of section 156 (1) further read with section 156(2) ibid.
