Customs Court approves charge sheet against M/s Royal Impex & M/s Cosmos Trading

KARACHI: The Customs Court approved charge sheet against Muhammad Muhtasim Mirza, Faizan, directors of M/s Royal Impex Private Limited and Muhammad Abdullah partner of M/s Cosmos Trading Development booked in a case of evasion of duty and taxes in the tune of Rs10,976,946.

On 21 January 2020, investigation officer of Customs Export Port Muhammad Bin Qasim submitted charge sheet and informed the court that during the investigation, it is established that the above mentioned suspects are involved in mis-declaration of description of declared goods as iron & steel sheets CRC of prime quality under HS Code 7209.1690 and production of false, tampered and fabricated documents including copy of letter of credit packing list and invoice by the accused investor M/s Royal Impex through accused Muhammad Abdullah Of M/s Cosmos Trading Development (Chal# 1145) to avail inadmissible benefit of SRO 655 (1)/2006 dated 22/06/2006 as per engineering development board quota allocation to M/s Procon Engineering Pvt, Ltd S.F Unit 13 & 14, SITE Karachi.

He further submitted that during course of investigation, efforts were made to collect evidences against the accused involved in this case as a result of which it came on record that accused Muhammad Abdullah was convicted and sentenced till rising of the court and fine of Rs 100,000 was imposed upon him by this court in case no 42/2002.

He said that investigation of the case is still continuing, meanwhile, interim challan of the case is submitted accordingly.
