Customs Court approves charge sheet of Iranian HSD oil smuggling case

KARACHI: The Customs Court approved charge sheet against suspect namely Rahimullah Khan son of Sazullah Khan against the surety of Rs100,000, who was booked in a case of attempting to smuggle non-duty paid high speed diesel.

On 24 March 2020, investigation officer submitted charge sheet against the above mentioned suspect and informed that on an actionable information, a team of Marine Wing Pakistan Coast Guards intercepted a boat Safina Sanaullah © registration no B-21021 engine no TC-13645.

He further submitted that during the search, Pakistan Coast Guards team recovered 3100 liter Iranian High Speed Diesel which was smuggling from Iran to Pakistan, suspect was asked to produce lawful documents, however, he failed to produce any lawful documents, therefore, after the formalities, goods along with boat were seized and suspect also taken into custody.

Investigation officer further said that prosecution needs further investigation for arrest of other suspects who may involve in this crime, therefore, court may grant his physical remand.

During the hearing, counsel for the accused filed after arrest bail and after arguments, court approved charge sheet and also granted him bail and directed him to appear before the court on next date of hearing.

According to the prosecution, case was registered for violation of under section 2(s) 157 (2) of customs act, 1969 punishable under clause (89) of section 156 (i) ibid read with section 156 (2) of the customs act, 1969.
