Customs Court approves interim charge sheet in another betel nuts smuggling case

KARACHI: The Customs Court accepted has interim charge sheet against Adnan, proprietor of M/s ABR Enterprises, Khalid Ahmed, proprietor of M/s Anees & Sons and others, who were booked for their alleged involvement in smuggling of 612,032 kilogram non-duty paid, foreign origin betel nuts which were of poor quality, infested and unfit for human consumption.

During the hearing, investigation officer of Directorate General of Intelligence & Investigation submitted interim charge sheet and submitted that the officials raided a private godown namely Arbaz Godown situated at plot no-A-41, SITE, Area Karachi, and recovered 8,536 bags containing 612,032 kilogram of betel nuts.

He said that during the investigation, it was found that Adnan son of Baboo Sharif, proprietor of M/s ABR Enterprises, Khalid Ahmed  proprietor of M/s Anees & Sons, Farhan Ahmed  Muhammad Ahmed, proprietor of Farhan Impex, Abdul Ghani Ronjah, partner of M/s Kiran Food Products, Farheen Irfan, proprietor of M/s Rohain Corporation, Ghulam Mehdi Nayani, proprietor of M/s Al-Abbas Industries, Muhammad Arif, proprietor of Arif Enterprises, Mansoor Ahmed, proprietor of Dilwala & Company, Aziz of M/s Aziz Products, Muhammad Salman, proprietor of M/s Aziz Products, Jawad Abdul Aziz, Mushtaq Ali Tajani, M/s Saarim Enterprises, Muhammad Zeeshan Farooq, representative of M/s Zain Enterprises, Muhammad Shahid, proprietor of M/s Abdul Rahman Sudhesh, Muhammad Jaweed, proprietor of M/s Ajwa Enterprises, Shehzad Tajani, Muhammad Ali, Muhammad Zubair of Zubair Corporation, Muhammad Imran, proprietor of M/s Naeem General Store and others are involved in smuggling of above mentioned betel nuts and also evaded the duty and taxes to the national exchequer.

He further informed the court that prosecution has collected evidences against them and will be produced during the hearing. After hearing arguments customs court accepted interim challan and adjourned hearing of the case.
