Customs Court extends judicial remand of suspects involved in cloth smuggling

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has sent three suspects to jail on extension of judicial remand for another 14 days in Indian made saris smuggling case.

According to details available to Customs Today, three suspects, Sajjad Qureshi, Abdul Sattar and Hammad Ahmad, were arrested by the customs authorities when they were making an attempt to smuggle a huge quantity of Indian made saris.

An investigation team of the Customs Preventive produced the suspects before the customs court and asked for three days physical remand.

On request of the investigation team Customs Court handed over them to the investigation team for further investigations. During hearing of the case accused Sajjad Qureshi asked for pardon from the court and said that this is their first mistake. The honorable court stated that you people are lucky that you have arrested in your first attempt, its mean God has saved you from sins.

Customs Court after hearing of arguments approved 14 days judicial remand of the three accused and sent them to jail. Customs Preventive has registered a case against the accused under Pakistan Customs Act of 1969.
