Customs Court approves judicial remand of accused involved in mobile smuggling

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti Smuggling has approved 14 days judicial remand of the accused, who was arrested in smuggling of cigarettes, cloths, mobile phones and some other items as well.

According to details an accused Muhammad Hassan was arrested by the customs intelligence authorities from Lahore. Customs intelligence authorities conducted an operation on intelligence information at Band Road Lahore and arrested an accused Muhammad Hassan.

Customs Intelligence recovered smuggled and non-customs paid clothes, mobile phones, cigarettes, and fire works from the accused. Worth of the recovered items is more than Rs 3.6 million in local market. The accused has caused a huge loss to the national kitty in the wake of duty and taxes.

Customs investigation team presented him before the customs court for getting their physical remand to investigate more on the issue that was approved by the court. Customs judge Tahir Sabir has approved his remand for two days. After completion of the remand customs team will present him again before the court for further action.

Customs has registered a case against the accused and launched investigation as well after confiscating the vehicle and clothes that he was trying to smuggle. Customs authorities has registered a case against him under Pakistan Customs Act 1969.
