Customs Court approves judicial remand of accused involved in smuggling

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has sent accused Shoaib Hafeez Khan to jail on judicial remand for 14 days who was arrested in smuggling of huge quantity of heroin. He was brought to the court by Customs Investigation and Prosecution team.

According to the details, Shoaib Hafeez Khan was arrested while carrying eight kilograms of heroin from Allama Iqbal International Airport  Accused was attempting to smuggle heroin from Lahore to Dubai.

Customs officials have intercepted him while he was trying to clear his luggage. On suspicious activities customs officials searched his luggage and recover eight kilograms of heroin which was tactfully hidden in his suitcase.

Sources told Customs Today that raids are being conducted in different parts of the city as per the information received from the accused to arrest master mind and facilitators behind the smuggling. Customs Preventive has registered a case under Customs Act 1969

Sources confirmed that the smuggler has said before the customs I&P that he didn’t know that something is hidden in his bag.
