Customs Court approves judicial remand of cell phones’ smuggler

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has sent an accused involved in mobile phones smuggling to jail on 14 days judicial remand.

Earlier, the accused was in custody of the Multan Customs Investigation and Prosecution for interrogation in a mobile smuggling case.
As per details, accused, Muhammad Rizwan was arrested from Raheem Yar Khan Airport red handed when he was making an attempt to smuggle mobile phones of assorted brands. A customs team at the airport during checking of his luggage found 130 mobile phones of Samsung, Huawei and Apple brands, besides recovering 141 mobile phones batteries.
The Multan Customs registered a case against Muhammad Rizwan under the Pakistan Customs Act, 1969 and presented him before the court of Chaudhary Ameer Muhamamd Khan for physical remand, which was approved by the court.
The Customs Court now after compilation of physical remand has sent him to jail for judicial trial.
