Customs Court approves judicial remand of LED TVs’ smuggler

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has sent a suspect allegedly involved in smuggling of LED TVs to jail on a 14-day judicial remand.

According to the details, Khan Muhammad son of Hashim Khan, a resident of Kharkana Market Jamrud road Peshawar, was arrested by the Lahore Customs Intelligence when he was making an attempt to smuggle 44 LED TV, padlocks, lamps and electronic razors worth Rs 1.2 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 200,000.

The officials recovered the items from a bus, which was coming to Lahore and intercepted at Sheikhpura Motorway interchange. During the raid, the officials could arrest one accused, while his accomplices fled from the scene taking benefit of the darkness.

The nabbed accused was produced before the court after completion of the physical remand where Judge Chaudhary Ameer Muhammad Khan sent him to jail on judicial trial.
