Customs Court approves physical remand of accused booked in HSD oil smuggling

KARACHI: The Customs Taxation & Anti-Smuggling Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi sent suspect namely Abdul Gaffar son of Abdul Sattar to customs department on physical remand, who was booked in a case of attempting to smuggle non-duty paid 6,000 liters Iranian High Speed Diesel Oil.

During the hearing, investigation officer produced the above mentioned suspects before the court and submitted that on a credible information, a team of Marian Wing Pakistan Coast Guard intercepted a boat namely Al-Barkat Boat and recovered 6,000 liters HSD Oil, during the search, suspect was asked to produce lawful documents of above HSD Oil, however, he fails to produce any lawful documents. Therefore, above mentioned HSD Oil was seized and suspect was also arrested after formalities.

Investigation officer had submitted that prosecution needs further investigations therefore, court may grant physical remand of suspect, after his arguments, court sent him back to customs department on physical remand and directed investigation officer to produce him on next date of hearing before the court.

Case was registered against above mentioned suspect and others for violation of under section 2 (s) and 16, 156 (1) (8) (89) and 157 of the Customs Act, 1969.
