KARACHI: The Customs Court sent suspects namely Muhammad Iqbal son of Muhammad Aziz Khan owner of oil tanker, Fazal Ur Rehman son of Muhammad Aziz Khan and Abdul Mateen son off Ahmed on physical remand, who were nominated in first information report (FIR) for smuggling 15,000 litters high speed diesel (HSD).
On 7 February 2022, during the hearing, investigation officer produced them before the court and informed that a specific information was received in the office of directorate general intelligence & investigation-customs to the effect that huge quantity of smuggled/ non-duty paid Iran origin high speed diesel oil would be transported through Isuzu oil tanker, which was loaded from the secret private deport situated near Yousaf Goth, Karachi for its further disposed and illegal sale.
He added that on said information, customs officials intercepted the said oil tanker bearing registration no TTB-398 and during the search, found 15,000 litters HSD Oil market value of Rs2,124,300 and after formalities, arrested the above mentioned accused and registered first information report against them.
He submits that prosecution needs further investigation from said accused, therefore, court may send them to customs department, after the hearing, court granted his request and sent suspect for physical remand.
According to the prosecution, case was registered for violation of under section 2(s), 16 & 157 (2) of the customs act, 1969 punishable under clauses (8), (9) & (89) of sub section (1) read with sub section (2) of section 156 of the customs act, 1969.
