Customs Court approves physical remand of accused involved in mobile phones smuggling

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti Smuggling has approved two days physical remand of two accused persons, who was arrested in smuggling of mobile phones and some other items as well from Lahore.

According to details an accused Muhammad Din and Fayyaz Ali were arrested by the Customs Intelligence from Lahore when they were coming through Motorway. They were intercepted by the customs authorities at Band Road. Customs Intelligence recovered huge quantity of smuggled and non custom paid mobile phones and accessories from possession of the accused person. Worth of the recovered items is more than Rs 2 million in local market. The accused caused huge loss to the national kitty in the wake of duty and taxes.

Customs investigation team produced them before the Customs Court for getting their physical remand to investigate more on the issue that was approved by the court.

Customs Court judge Tahir Sabir has approved their remand for two days. After completion of the remand customs team will produce them again before the court for further action.

Customs has registered a case against the accused and launched investigation as well after confiscating the vehicle and clothes that he was trying to smuggle.  Customs Investigation has registered a case against him under Pakistan Customs Act 1969.
