LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has approved a three-day physical remand of an accused, Qaiser Iqbal, in currency smuggling case.
According to details, Qaisar Iqbal was arrested by the Customs authorities from airport while making an attempt to smuggle a huge amount of foreign currency from Pakistan to a Gulf state. He was trying to fly through a Sharjah bound flight of Airblue PA-410.
During checking of his luggage, the customs officials found US dollars, euros and UK pounds that were equal to Rs 22 million.
A case under section 156, (1), (68), (70), 157, 178 of Pakistan Customs Act 1969 was registered against him in I&P Customs House Lahore.
Now the Judge of customs court Chaudary Ameer Muhammad Khan has approved three days physical remand of the accused for further investigations.
