Customs court remands smuggling suspect to FIA custody

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has granted physical remand of an alleged smuggler and handed him over to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for further investigation.

According to details available with Customs Today, the FIA arrested Ghafar Khan son of Durani on charges of smuggling of different kind of hardware items from Central Asia through KPK and Chaman. Different items worth more than Rs 6 million were also recovered from him.

On Tuesday Federal Investigation Agency presented him before the Special Customs Court of Lahore where Special Duty Judge accepted his physical remand for three days and handed him over to the FIA to complete the investigations for further prosecution.

The FIA has registered a case against Ghafar Khan under Section of 156, C, 89, and 98 of Customs Act 1969. Ghafar Khan will be again presented before the court after the expiry of physical remand.
