KARACHI: The Customs Court sent suspect namely Syed Badshah son of Gul Zada to customs department on physical remand who is booked in a case of attempting to smuggle non-duty paid 27,000 liters High Speed Diesel (HSD).
On May 09, 2019, investigation officer of customs preventive produced the above mentioned suspect before the court and informed that on an actionable information, customs team intercepted a Hino truck bearing suspected no: TLV-597 and recovered 27,000 liters high speed diesel worth Rs2,430,000.
He further submitted that during the search, suspect was asked to produce lawful documents, however, he failed to produce any lawful documents, therefore, after the formalities, goods along with dumper were seized and suspect also was arrested by customs team.
He argued that prosecution needs to arrest financiers, abettors & other including owner of impugned goods and vehicle, therefore, court may send him back to customs department on physical remand, after the hearing, court sent him back to customs department on physical remand and directed investigation officer to produce him on next date of hearing along with progress report.
According to the prosecution, case was registered for violation of under Section 2 (s) 156(2) 157(2) and 178 of Customs Act, 1969 punishable under Clause 8 & 89 of Section 156 (i) ibid read with Section 3 (1) of Import & Export Control Act, 1950.
