Customs Court approves progress report against owner of M/s Iqbal Godowns

KARACHI: The Customs Court approved interim progress report against Muhammad Iqbal owner of M/s Iqbal Godowns, who was nominated in first information report (FIR) for smuggling of contraband goods into Pakistan.

On 24 August 2021, during the hearing, investigation officer of Anti-Smuggling Organization submits progress report and informs the court that on an actionable information, customs officials raided at M/s Iqbal Godowns, Baloch Garage, Near Niazi Chowk, Lyari, Karachi and recovered 23 bags having original packing containing smuggled Iran origin Sheizar brand Whey Powder 575 kg. 122 bags having original packing containing smuggled Iran origin PEGAH brand milk powder 3050 kgs. 10 bags having repacked packing containing smuggled Netherland origin BEST CHOICE brand Instant fat filled powder 250 kgs.

He further informs that customs officials also recovered sewing machines and used units of heat sealers for PP Bags, total value of the recovered smuggled goods is Rs4, 669,000.

He added that after the formalities, first information report was lodged and above-mentioned goods also were taken into custody, relevant authorities are being requested to take necessary action for intellectual property rights violation, efforts are underway to trace-out and arrest the culprits involved in this crime.

After the hearing, the court took challan into court and directed the investigation officer to complete the investigation and submit a progress report for the next date of hearing.
