Customs Court approves remand of accused involved in HSD smuggling

MULTAN: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling sent two accused on 14 days judicial remand who are involved in smuggling of 40,000 liters High Speed Diesel (HSD) case.

According to details, accused Muhammad Naseem and Sardar Muhammad were arrested by Rajanpur police on the charges of smuggling of High Speed Diesel. Both accused were handed over to Multan Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization after their arrest.

Customs Investigation and Prosecution (I&P) branch lodged FIR against two accused who were involved in smuggling of foreign origin HSD.

Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization team intercepted alleged Hino oil tanker bearing registration number TKV-490/ Sindh from Rajanpur area which was loaded with 40,000 liters quantity of foreign origin HSD worth Rs5 million.

It is important to mention here that both smugglers were trying to smuggle the foreign origin HSD to South Punjab through Taunsa-Rajanpur route to supply in the local markets but Customs teams foiled their attempt with the assistance of local police.

Customs Investigation and Prosecution (I&P) Multan lodged a criminal FIR on both accused. Customs Investigation and Prosecution (I&P) team had presented both accused before the court of special judge of the customs taxation and anti-smuggling after the expiry of physical remand where customs court sent both accused to jail on judicial remand until 5th January 2019.
