Customs court awards 17-day imprisonment to HSD Oil smuggler

KARACHI: Customs Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi awarded a 17-day imprisonment and a fine of Rs100000 to a suspect named Gour Khan S/o Eidoo booked in a case of attempting to smuggle non-duty-paid foreign origin 24,270 liters of High Speed Diesel.

During the hearing, abovementioned suspect appeared before the court along with his counsel and moved an application for pleading guilty. After the arguments, the court framed charges against him and awarded a 17-day imprisonment and a fine of Rs100000 as undergone period.

On the last date of hearing, the investigation officer had submitted a challan against the arrested suspect and informed the court that, on secret information, a team of the Anti-Smuggling Organization recovered 19,850 liters of Iranian HSD Oil from his possession.

According to the prosecution, the case was registered for violation of Section 2 (s) 156 (2) 157 (2) and 178 of Customs Act-1969 punishable under clauses 8 & 89 of Section 156 (i) ibid read with Section 3 (1) of Import and Export Control act-1950.
