Customs Court confirms pre-arrest bail to suspect booked for illegal removal of goods

KARACHI: The Customs Court has confirmed pre-arrest bail to suspect namely Hamza Bandukda, who was already on interim pre-arrest bail and nominated in First Information (FIR) losses of revenue amounting to Rs1,94,765,264 to the national exchequer by illegal removal of warehouse goods from the warehouse HECOTEX.

On 23 August 2021, court mentioned in its order that “no specific role is assigned to applicant Hamza Bandukda in the charge-sheet; thus, their pre-arrest bail application is hereby confirmed in the same terms & conditions.

According to the prosecution, above mentioned accused and others are allegedly involved for illegal removal of velvet suiting fabric, chiffon suiting weighing 171, 421 kg were warehoused against 11 goods declarations, but now in place of said warehoused goods some pieces of useless cloths are present which also with complete difference in weight.

Case was registered for violation under section 2 (s) of the customs act, 1969 read with section 156(2), 187 & 187 of act ibid further read with section 3(i) of the imports & export control act, 1950 and other related laws and other relevant laws.

Investigation officer has completed the investigation and submitted a progress report before the court and court also approved and took charge sheet on court record.

Trial court has directed the investigation officer to submit a final charge sheet against a comprehensive investigation.
