Customs Court declares proclaimed offender to suspect booked in 32 cases

KARACHI: The Customs Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi declared a proclaimed offender as absconder accused person namely Muhammad Naeem Qureshi son of Muhammad Rustam who was booked in 32 different cases of mis-declaration, tax evasion etc causing losses to national exchequer to the tune of billions of repress.

Court declared him to proclaimed offender after the investigation officer submitted the report of the proceedings against him under section 87 (proclamation for person absconding) and 88 (attachment of property of person absconding) of the criminal procedure code.

While the court issued time and again non-bail able warrants against him police failed to execute the warrants and at a previous hearing the court asked the investigation officer to initiate proceedings of proclamation and attachment of property.

It needs to be pertained here that above named accused person was involved in 32 cases, most of in these cases were registered in 2008, almost the entire said accused had been charge-sheeted under section 512 (record of evidence in absence of accused) of the criminal procedure code and shown as absconder in police investigation reports.
