Customs Court disposes of bail plea of accused involved in tax evasion

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti -Smuggling has disposed of the post arrest bail plea of an accused Mohammad Asim who is involved in preparation of bogus tax statements.

According to details available to Customs Today a bail plea of the accused was scheduled for hearing on Monday that is disposed of by the court.

Earlier the Investigation team of Customs Intelligence produced accused Muhammad Asim before the court and asked for his physical remand of five days.

Customs team requested the court to hand over the accused to investigation team so that further investigation could be completed. Customs Court after hearing the plea of the customs handed over him to the investigations team for three more days.

Earlier Customs Intelligence team arrested Asim on the charges of tax evasion. The Customs Intelligence found a difference of Rs 0.8 million in tax statements of the accused. A First Information Report was registered against him under Section 2 (37) of Tax Act, 1990
