Customs Court extends judicial remand of alleged auto parts smuggler

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has sent an alleged smuggler to jail on a 14-day judicial remand. The accused was arrested from Barki Road, Lahore.

According to details, the Customs Intelligence and Investigation had arrested Arshad Mahmood, son of Muhammad Ashraf, last month and had recovered smuggled auto spare parts from his vehicle LEA- 09-3595.

During the investigation process, a huge quantity of smuggled spare parts was also recovered from the warehouse owned by the accused in the Badami Bagh area.

The customs authorities revealed that the value of the seized goods was more than Rs 8.5 million.

Initially, a team of Customs Intelligence got a two-day physical remand of the accused, and now again customs authorities presented him before the court, where the court sent him to jail on a 14-day remand.
