Customs Court extends judicial remand of Indian citizen in currency smuggling case

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has granted judicial remand of a suspect in a currency smuggling case.

An Indian citizen was arrested by the customs authorities from wagah railway station while he was making attempt to smuggle Rs 225,000 to India from Lahore. The accused, who was identified as Farjan Rahat, was arrested during search of his luggage at Wagah railway station when Pakistani currency was recovered from his possession. The Customs authorities registered a case against him under section 2s, 16, 139, 156 , 1, 8, 70 and 5 of Pakistan customs act 1969.
