LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has approved extension in judicial remand of a accused who is involved in gold smuggling. The Customs Court has sent him to jail for 14 days for further judicial trail.
As per details available to Customs Today, the Airport Security Force had recovered two and half kilogram of gold from a passenger who was identified as Rai Umar at Lahore Airport. The clue of gold was found during scanning machine at Allama Iqbal International Airport. The ASF conducted initial interrogation and handed over the accused to Custom department for further investigations.
The Customs team produced the accused before Customs Court, where Special Judge Chaudhary Ameer Muhammad Khan sent him to jail for judicial remand for fourteen days. It is necessary to mention here that worth of smuggled gold is more than Rs 8 million in international market.
