Customs Court extends judicial remand of mobile phones, LEDs smuggler

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has approved a 14-day judicial remand of an alleged mobile phones and LEDs smuggler.

Sources told Customs Today that Khurram Shahzad was arrested by the customs intelligence Sialkot when hundreds of mobile phones of different models and companies and LED TVs were recovered from him.

Sources said that the total value of the recovered goods is Rs 3.5 million. The suspect was a professional smuggler and has a big network to make his smuggled goods safe at every step during transportation from the tribal areas to other cities of the country, including Lahore, Sialkot, Rawalpindi and Peshawar.

Earlier, the accused was in custody of customs investigation and prosecution for interrogation regarding his act of smuggling and to dig out persons behind him.

Customs Investigation and Prosecution Sambrial Sialkot has registered a case against him under section 2, (s), 16, 139, 157(1),m and 178 of Pakistan customs act 1969.
