LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has extended the judicial remand of a suspect who was involved in currency smuggling case.
According to details, in November, Shahbaz Ahmad was arrested by the Customs Preventive at Lahore Airport when they foiled an attempt to smuggle Rs 5.2 million foreign currencies from Lahore to Muscat. Pakistani currency was also confiscated from the accused on the spot.
Suspect Shahbaz Ahmad was produced before the Court after completion of a 14-day physical remand.After hearing the arguments from the counsels of customs, the court approved 14-day judicial remand of the accused and sent him to jail.
The accused was set for travelling by Air Blue flight no. PA 450. However, he was arrested by the customs authorities before boarding.
The accused tactfully fixed the Omani riyals with his body which was removed by the customs authorities.
