Customs Court extends judicial remand of tax evader

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has extended the judicial remand of a suspect, allegedly involved sales tax evasion.

According to the details, Wamiq Zaka was arrested by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Inland Revenue (IR) following the charges of huge sales tax evasion. The board had received intelligence information regarding the sales tax evasion of millions of rupees by Zaka.

After getting arrest warrants from Customs Court, the IR team apprehended the accused under Pakistan Sales Tax Act, 1992. Later, he was produced before the court where he was sent to jail on physical remand.

Currently, he is in jail on judicial remand after the expiry of physical remand. Now, the Customs Court has extended his judicial remand for further fourteen days.
