MULTAN: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has extended physical remand for six more days of two female suspects allegedly involved in smuggling of 14 kg gold and currency from Multan International Airport.
The Multan Customs authorities have presented both the arrested women, Haleema Riaz and Sumaira Asif Siddiqui, in the Customs Court after the expiry of their six days physical remand. Both were travelling to Dubai from Multan International Airport and had attempted to smuggle gold along with foreign currency.
Customs authorities at Multan International airport recovered 14 kg gold wearing both females in their hands in shape of bangles (kara) and anklets (pazaib) along with 39000 Saudi riyals and United Arab Emirates dirhams. Multan Customs have seized the recovered gold and foreign currency of worth approximately Rs.64.6 million and lodged FIR on the both arrested women in charges of smuggling and money laundering.
Customs Special Judge Chaudhry Ameer Muhammad extended the physical remand of both arrested women for further six days on the request of the Multan Customs authorities for investigation. Both arrested females will be presented again to Special Judge Court of Customs taxation and anti-smuggling on 12th October for further hearing of case.
