Customs Court extends remand of mobile phones’ smuggler

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has extended the judicial remand of a suspect who was arrested from Shaikh Zayed International Airport, Raheem Yar Khan, while making an attempt to smuggle mobile phones from Dubai to Pakistan.

According to the details, accused, Muhammad Rizwan, is in judicial custody of the Multan Customs Investigation and Persecution after completion of physical remand.

He was arrested from Raheem Yar Khan Airport red handed when he was making an attempt to smuggle mobile phones of assorted brands. A customs team at the airport during checking of his luggage found 130 mobile phones of Samsung, Huawei and Apple brands, besides recovering 141 mobile phones’ batteries.

The Multan Customs registered a case against Muhammad Rizwan under the Pakistan Customs Act, 1969. The Customs Court also directed the investigation team to prepare the complete challan of the case.
