Customs court gets probe challan of three accused involved in tax evasion

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has received an investigation challan of the case of three accused involved in tax evasion. Earlier, the court had rejected their post-arrest bail pleas on the charge of tax evasion.

Three accused named Abdul Rehman, Abdul Aleem and Talat were arrested by the Inland Revenue in the tax evasion case. They were sent to jail on judicial remand by the customs court. They filed the post-arrest bail pleas before the customs court which were disposed of by the court on Wednesday. One of the accused in this case has got a bail from the court. During the hearing of most of the cases, the counsels for accused requested the adjournment of the hearing of their respective cases for preparation of arguments on which the court did the hearings for different dates.

Three out of 16 cases were fixed for formal hearing of accused named Shehzad, Abdullah, Tariq and others. Pre-arrest bail pleas were also scheduled for Friday which the court has also adjourned for next hearing.

The court also adjourned the cases of narcotics, tax evasion, smuggling and customs matters. The cases from Faisalabad, Lahore, Gujranwala and Multan were also scheduled for hearing on Thursday.
