Customs Court grants bail to alleged auto parts smuggler

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has granted post-arrest bail to a suspect, Muhammad Faiz, allegedly involved in auto spare parts smuggling.

As per details, Special Judge Chaudhry Ameer Hussain heard the case where the Customs Investigation and prosecution team was also available. Lawyers of both parties presented their arguments in the said case. The court after hearing the arguments accepted bail of the accused against surety bonds.

Earlier, the accused was on judicial remand. Muhammad Faiz was arrested by the Customs Intelligence following the recovery of smuggled auto parts worth Rs 5 million from his possession.

The suspect was used to smuggle the items from Afghanistan into Pakistan through Chaman border and supplied theses goods in local markets causing loss to national kitty.
