Customs court grants bails to suspects booked in mega tax evasion

KARACHI: Customs (Taxation & Anti-Smuggling) Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi granted a pre-arrest bails to accused named Saddiq Abdul Razzak S/o Abdul Razzak and Muhammad Fawad S/o Abdul Ghaffar who are involved in a mega tax evasion case.

During the hearing, counsels argued that applicants/ accused are innocent and were falsely implicated in this case as they are ready to face trail, however they have apprehension of arrest therefore court may grant their bails till the final decision of the case.

After the hearing, court granted their bails and observed in its order that “Without touching the merits of the case, interim pre-arrest bails are granted to said accused subject to furnish surety of Rs300000 with P.R bond in the like amount to the satisfaction of this court. The custom court also issued a notice to the special prosecutor for customs department and call police papers and directed the above named accused to join the investigation if and when required by the investigation officer and appear before the court on the next date of hearing.
