Customs Court grants interim bail to accused involved in tax evasion case

KARACHI: Customs Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi  has granted interim pre-arrest bail to the accused, Abaidur Rehman son of Ali Hassan, proprietor of M/s Kontal Technologies, who was booked in a mega tax evasion case.

During the hearing, counsel for the suspect  filed a petition for pre-arrest bail and submitted that the applicant was innocent and was falsely implicated in this case, and that he was ready to face trail. However, due  to fear of arrest he could not appear in the court, therefore, the court may grant him bail, the counsel added.

After the arguments, court granted his pre-arrest against the surety of Rs 200,000 and issued notice to special prosecutor for Customs Department and called police papers. The court also directed the applicant to join investigations when required and appear before the court on the next date of hearing.

Earlier, Investigation Officer Farhat Ullah Jafri had appeared and submitted interim challan before the court and informed that during the investigation, it was revealed that accused persons namely Shakilur Rahman son of Abaidur Rahman, proprietor of M/s Comprehensive Business International and Abaidur Rahman son of Ali Hassan (late) proprietor of M/s Kontal Technologies in connivance and collusion with each other and other associates-in-crime by importing and clearing under-reference goods vide 10
