Customs court grants two-day physical remand of accused smuggler

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has approved a two-day physical remand of the accused apprehended in vehicle and cloth-smuggling case.

Accused Muhammad Muneer Khan was arrested by the customs intelligence authorities from Lahore. The customs intelligence authorities conducted an operation on the intelligence information at Band Road Lahore and held accused Muneer Khan.

The customs intelligence recovered a smuggled and non-paid-paid vehicle from the accused. The customs intelligence also recovered cloths from his possession. The worth of the recovered cloths is more than Rs260000.

The customs investigation team had presented him before the customs court for getting his physical remand to investigate more on the issue that was granted by the court. The Customs Judge, Tahir Sabir, has approved the remand for two days. After the completion of the remand, the customs team will present him again before the court for further action.

The customs has registered a case against the accused and launched an investigation as well after confiscating the vehicle and clothes that he was trying to smuggle. The customs authorities have registered a case against him under Pakistan Customs Act-1969.
