Customs Court hears 22 cases on Wednesday

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling heard 22 important cases on Wednesday, including those of pre-arrest bail pleas.

Cases regarding tax evasion, customs, smuggling and narcotics, and pleas of pre-arrest bail were scheduled for the day’s hearing. The court also recorded statements of the parties and the witnesses in six different cases.

Pre-arrest bail pleas of Muhammad Nadeem, Sheikh Manoor Ahmad, Shahzad Ahmad, Asad Amin Butt, Behram Khan and Muhammad Saleem and Awais Saleem were also scheduled for the day, on which the court reserved its judgement.

The cases of smuggling were also part of the day’s schedule, in which the court recorded the statements of the parties. In some cases, the Customs Court recorded the statements of witnesses and issued necessary directives. A case of narcotics against Iqbal Baig was also part of the court proceedings, in which the parties presented their arguments.
