Customs Court hears 30 cases on Tuesday, rejects two bail pleas

LAHORE: The Customs Court has rejected two bail pleas during hearing on Tuesday, while it also heard 28 other cases.

The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling heard 30 different cases. Cases related to smuggling of different items, tax evasion and a few cases of narcotics were also on the table.

In a case against Arslan Ali, the Customs Court rejected his bail plea until the next hearing and asked the authorities to present a detailed challan against him.

In another case, accused Muhammad Aslam’s bail plea was rejected by the court until the next hearing. He was arrested by customs authorities on the charges of smuggling. The court after hearing the arguments from both sides of the case rejected the bail plea of the accused and sent him to jail until the next hearing of the case.

The special judge of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling also heard many cases in which he issued specific directions to speed up the hearing of cases and to strengthen the process or prosecution.
