Customs Court hears 37 cases; issues notice to guarantor

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling issued a final notice to Muhammad Ishaq, a guarantor in a smuggling case, to present the accused who was released on bail, before the court.

Besides, the court heard 37 cases on Thursday relating to tax evasion, smuggling and narcotics, which were scheduled for the day. In most of the cases the court heard arguments of appellants and respondents, besides recording the statements of the witnesses in a few cases.

The court in a case against Karim Khan issued a notice to his guarantor, Muhammad Ishaq. The court has directed Ishaq to present the accused within 10 days; otherwise the surety bonds will be frozen.

The special judge of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling issued necessary orders in the cases. The court also sent an accused of smuggling on judicial remand.

Cases of Sialkot, Faisalabad, Gujranwala and Lahore were heard on Thursday in the court.
