Customs Court imposes fine on accused involved in smuggling of tyres

MULTAN: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has imposed a penalty of Rs120,000 each on four accused persons who were involved in smuggling of foreign origin tyres worth Rs6 million.

According to details, Customs Investigation and Prosecution (I&P) branch has lodged FIR no.17/2018 against five accused persons namely Mansoor Khan son of Qabil Shah, Mansoor Khan son of Meen Khan, Muhammad Shehzad son of Rashid Khan, Muhammad Asif son of Quaid Baaz and Sualemeen Khan son of Dooran Shah.

These arrested accuse are residents of Peshawar and Khyber Agency. All accused filed bail petition against post arrest in case no.17/2018.

It is also pertinent to mention that Anti-Smuggling Organization team’s intercepted truck bearing registration number: TLQ-237/Lasbela and container displaying registration number PT-1436/Sindh in their action from Head Taunsa Bridge.

Customs teams recovered huge quantity of branded tyres and other goods from the said container during their examination of said container.

Drivers of the vehicles presented bogus import documents of loaded goods to Customs staff which were proved counterfeit during verification.

Anti-Smuggling Organization lodged criminal case against said accused persons. The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti –Smuggling Judge imposed a penalty of Rs120,000 each on four accused persons after conclusion of hearing arguments case and issued direction to deposit fine.
