Customs Court imposes penalty of Rs 100,000 on diesel smuggler

KARACHI: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has imposed a penalty of Rs 100, 000 on a suspect when he pleaded guilty to smuggling of Iranian oil.

Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi pronounced verdict on the application filed by accused Salman Gul pleading guilty to the offence.

According to the prosecution, Pakistan Customs’ Anti-Smuggling Organization had seized 6,000 liters of smuggled Iranian oil and a tanker from the city’s Maripur area and arrested tanker’s driver Salman.

Advocate Syed Mukhtar Hussain, who represented the accused, told the court that his client is pleading guilty to the crime and throwing himself on the mercy of the court.
