Customs Court imposes penalty on Chinese citizen involved in money laundering

LAHORE: Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has imposed penalty of Rs 200,000 on a Chinese citizen who was arrested by the Customs team at Allama Iqbal international airport.

Earlier, the customs team produced the suspect before the court and asked for physical remand for investigation which was approved by the court.

Customs Court Judge Tahir Sabir directed the investigation team to produce him before the court after completion of physical remand for further proceedings. The Customs team presented the accused before the court and asked the court that investigation has been completed so the court can send him to jail on judicial remand. His trial remained continue for one week and on Monday the customs court imposed a penalty of Rs 200,000 when he confessed to his crime before the court.

According to details an accused Le Xong was arrested by the customs team at Allama Iqbal International airport Lahore. Customs authorities during search of his luggage found huge quantity of currency.

Customs team arrested the accused who was making attempt to smuggle this currency from Lahore to China. Customs team intercepted the accused at airport and recovered a huge amount of currency of different countries.

The Customs registered a case against the accused and started investigation as well after confiscating the currency that he was trying to smuggle. The Customs team registered a case against him under Pakistan Customs Act.
