Customs Court imposes penalty on suspects who jumped bail & fled away

KARACHI: Two suspects Masood Ahmed Siddiqui son of Sirajuddin Siddiqui and Afaque Ahmed Siddiqui son of Sirajuddin Siddiqui have submitted Rs500,000 as penalty before the customs court as they had jumped the bail and absconded away in mis-declaration case.

On January 15, 2019, counsel for the accused informed the court that now the above-named suspects are ready to deposit the penalty of Rs500,000 and request that such certificate may kindly be issued for producing before the Sindh High Court for release of the property documents deposited as surety against bonds.

According to the details, the above-mentioned suspects were granted bail by the Sindh High Court vide order dated May 17, 2002 passed in spl. Cr. bail application no: 17/2002 subject to furnishing surety in sum of Rs500,000 each.

Suspects had deposited property documents before the Nazir of the Sindh High Court vide bond no: 35877-79 dated May 18, 2002, however, both suspects jumped the bail and absconded away.

After the hearing, court accepted their penalty and directed office to issue certificate for producing before the SHC for release of the property documents deposited as surety against the above-mentioned bond number.
