Customs Court issues non-bailable arrest warrants against suspect involved in tax evasion

KARACHI: Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi issued non-bailable arrest warrants against absconding suspect namely Asif son of Assa, who is involved in smuggled/ non-duty paid Toyota Land Cruiser jeep case and evasion of duty and taxes of Rs 12,173,291.

During the hearing, investigation officer of this case submitted interim challan against the accused and informed the court that during the search, officials of the customs department intercepted Toyota Land Cruiser jeep V8 bearing registration number BF-0314 valuing Rs 4,598,280 which was parked near PSO Pump Tariq Road graveyard Karachi.

According to the investigation officer, the accused is involved in evasion of duty and taxes to the tune of Rs 12,173,291. The case was registered under section 2 (s) 32 and 178 of Customs Act 1969 punishable under clauses (8) (89) and 15 of section 156 ibid.
