Customs Court issues non-bailable warrants against suspected betel nuts smuggler

KARACHI: The Customs Court issued non bailable warrants against absconding suspect namely Abdul Hadi son of Sultan Muhammad, who was booked in a case of attempting to smuggle non-duty paid betel nuts and other contraband goods.

On September 10, 2018, investigation officer submitted a progress report and informed that investigations are underway and prosecution successfully conducting investigations; however, absconding suspect has not been arrested yet and will be produced before the court when arrested.

After hearing his arguments, court issued his non-bailable warrants and directed investigation officer to produce him after arrest on next date of hearing.

According to the prosecution, two suspects namely Inayatullh son of Abdul Samad and Saddam Hussain son of Abdul Manan have already been arrested and are on bail.

As per first information report, on a credible information, officials of the customs department intercepted Hino a truck near at Jabbar Shaheed Check Post Jacobabad and recovered 348 bags 26655 kilograms betel nuts valuing at Rs22,324,000 and 28 bags 385 kilograms Indian gutka worth Rs5,77,500 from them.
