Customs court performs well in first six month of 2016

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has shown outstanding performance in first six months of the year 2016.

According to details, after resuming the charge as special judge of customs court by Chaudary Ameer Muhammad Khan, the customs court performance has increased and the number of cases is also decreased.

Decisions on cases and speedy proceedings have improved the overall performance of the court. The number of cases has fallen close to 160 in six months. Earlier, daily scheduled cases were stand at 30 to 35 but now due to speedy proceedings on cases it has fallen up to 10 or 12 per day.

Customs court has announced verdict on some important cases including a famous case of a lady smuggler Rahat Shehzadi in which the court has sent her to jail and imposed a penalty as well. Number of the other decisions has also made by the court that has improved the performance of the customs court.
