Customs court postpones bail plea of tax evader

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs, Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has adjourned the bail plea of Hassan Javed who is allegedly involved in a tax evasion case.

According to details, Javed, who is the owner of a foam manufacturing company, allegedly evaded Rs 34 million taxes. The accused has also passed 10 days in the custody of the Customs Intelligence team for investigation in February.

The Customs Intelligence checked his company’s record and found a difference of Rs 34 million in sales tax statements.

The customs team registered FIR against the accused under Section 2 (37) of Sales Tax Act, 1990 and him before the court on February 25 and where he got his physical remand of 10 days.

The accused director of the company was presented before the court on March 4 for further prosecution after completion of the investigation, where the court accepted his judicial remand and sent him to jail.

Now the court is hearing his bail plea which is adjourned for next week.
