Customs court postpones hearing of mobile-smuggling case till Friday

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has adjourned the case of mobile phone smuggling by Friday. Earlier, the court approved the post-arrest bail pleas of the accused arrested in said above case.

Accused Abdul Waheed and Agha Wali were apprehended by the customs intelligence authorities from The Mall. Earlier, the customs court had granted their post-arrest bail pleas and ordered the release. The bail pleas of the accused were accepted by Customs Judge Shakeel Ahmad against the cash guarantee of Rs500000 each.

During the proceeding of the case on Thursday, court orders the investigation team to complete the challan as soon as possible so that court can reach the conclusion.

previously, the Customs Intelligence and Investigation team presented them before the customs court for getting their physical remand to investigate more on the issue.

Both accused have been supplying mobile phones to some traders of Hall Road Lahore. They were held when Customs Intelligence team intercepted them on The Mall and recovered 324 mobile phones. The value of the recovered mobile phones was more than Rs6million in the local market.

The customs authorities registered a case against them under Pakistan Customs Act-1969.
